This was one of the first places I visited when I moved to town. I love the food, atmosphere, wifi, and ambiance. It is nice to have a elevated breakfast establishment in town. There is a half price rack for day old bread, otherwise it is just a little pricey for a bakery. I believe around $5 or $6 for fresh baked loaf of bread.

Oatmeal was very good. Enough said. A little pricy, but it was pretty good for a breakfast stop

I've only had breakfast here, and I'm always pleased with it. Very fresh and tasteful for anything I order there. Service is fast for how few people they have working. Especially when the morning rush on the weekends hit. Very nice establishment.

I've only eaten here twice but based solely on the breakfast/brunch menu and coffee this is the best place to go in town. No question. Really good value too. I had an amazing egg sandwich and great coffee for 7 bucks and was blown away by the size of the sandwich. I've only looked at their other baked products but it looks great

I have been to Dakota Harvest many times and have the following thoughts to share with everyone. I consider DH to be one of the best bakeries in town. They bake a diverse array of breads, rolls, cookies/sweets, and cakes. Also, their sandwiches and soups are quite good for the lunch crowd. Sandwiches can be cold or panini-style. The atmosphere is urban-esque and the staff are friendly. I'd have to say I was disappointed once in a birthday cake they made for me. It was late, the frosting was not very tasty, and I was generally disappointed. I'm not sure what happened that day, but they did give the cake to me for free plus a gift card. So, in summary, it's a great place to have lunch and to buy bread. Those are definitely their strengths. They are a great local, downtown establishment and they add to the quality of life in Grand Forks.

The customer service is awful. There will be several workers chatting in the corner while a huge line is forming. It's very slow and sometimes will take 15-20 minutes to wait in the line. Then once you order, sometimes it takes even longer to get your food and I've had to go back up to get what I purchased. The baked goods are good, but I don't order the sandwiches and soup much, as i'm not a fan.

This place has some truly delicious food. However, every time I have been in there the service is terrible. The workers act like you are interrupting their day by asking to buy something. It's ridiculous! My latest trip gave me an encounter with a girl who literally rolled her eyes at me and treated me with disdain. I'm a polite person and very kind, there is no excuse for that kind of service. Unfortunately for Dakota Harvest Bakers the service and workers sour the food. I think I'm done going back. I can be insulted elsewhere.

I had a great experience here today. Ben and Oliver provided great recommendations for food and cookies. The bittersweet chocolate and sea salt cookie was amazing. The chili was great along with the turkey sandwich, of which the bread was awesome. Short trip to Grand Forks and I'm glad we found this place. If I'm back, I'll be back for the food and those guys.

Very good breads here, and the aroma is delicious! We always get their Cinnamon Raisin Bread the bakers choice bread and absolutely love their selection of scones! The only con of this place, some items can be a little pricy, but dont let that scare you off as its a nice treat!

When I am in town I must make a stop at Dakota Harvest Bakers. Their cookies are, hands down, the best cookies in town that I've had. My favourite - peanut butter and chocolate chip monster cookies. They always seem the best in the falls when I'm there on a weekend and browsing the Farmer's Market. The cinnamon buns are also a go to staple.

I really, really want to like this place.... but, every time I go I just feel like it should be better. The people behind the counter almost seem annoyed when you order something, at least when I've gone. Plus, I don't really dig that everything is pre-made and they just throw it in the microwave. The quiche is just OK, nothing to write home about. Maybe a little on the rich side actually. The biscuits are OK, a little dry. I don't care for the stuffed french toast, the berry topping to way too sweet. The coffee is pretty decent. It is a nice place to grab a cup and stroll down the Greenway on a nice morning. But, overall the food really isn't all that great. I do think it's awesome that they use all local stuff, but think their recipes could use a little fine tuning.

This is the place I miss most since moving away from the midwest, so it's the first place we stop when we're back in the area. The layout is nice: the whole place is open and bright and there is plenty of seating. The caramel rolls are out of this world. Ditto the cookies, carrot cake, all of the cheesecakes, and the bread. Oh, the bread. Staples every day: baguettes, Italian breads, whole wheat, etc, but try the specialty breads. Chipotle Chocolate bread? A sweet Cherry Focaccia? Unbelievable. The staff is great about letting you taste things, which is great, but be prepared to leave with one of everything.

Sunday brunch is a must! We found this delicious bakery via Yelp. On Sunday we had a variety of baked goods, not realizing brunch was Sunday only, and was a little disappointed to return the following morning to no French Toast! There was more than enough to keep the three of us ( including a four year old) happy! The porridge was amazing, scone was delicious, and for our daughter a big yummy triple chocolate cookie! I couldn't resist adding a mini baguette topped with lots of butter. Yummmmy!

I have a love hate relationship with Dakota Harvest, I love the atmosphere and pastries but truly hate the service. One glaring reminder of this is when I told one I the employees that all the coffee was gone in two of the airpots he just looked at me and said "thats not my job so tell someone else."

They have some really tasty baked goods and a good selection. Caramel rolls, cinnamon rolls, croissants, great chocolate chip cookies. Their soups and sandwiches are also much better than the chains around GF.

Dakota Harvest was truly a great lunch destination for me while in Grand Forks. They have a rotating sandwich menu that I always enjoyed for a lunch time pick me up. The do freshly baked pastries and bread everyday and they truly are an artisanal bakery. Complimentary Wi-Fi access is provided and quite a few hours of productive work was completed while at the Bakery. A great Saturday usually involves going to the Farmers during the summer followed by lunch afterward at Dakota Harvest

I have tried for over two years to fall in love with this place. The location is wonderful--right downtown. The menu is a little different than your typical sandwich place. I was hopeful this would be my favorite little place to get some great food. The food is made ahead of time. Nothing is made fresh while you wait. The sandwiches are prepared and stored in a glass case, sauce and all. They taste OK. Definitely not worth the price you pay. I've gone for breakfast and had their baked oatmeal. I wanted to love it. It was a square of some sort of granola cake in a bowl with milk that they microwaved. It wasn't even hot. The coffee is stronger and more bitter than Starbucks. The first time I went in I ordered coffee. You get a cup and serve yourself. She asked if I was planning to get a refill. Since I normally do, I said yes. She charged me for two cups of coffee before I even had a taste! Needless to say, after tasting the first cup, the second cup never happened. I do find it disturbing that they will handle my money and food without washing their hands in between. The cookies are very good. I have always enjoyed the cookies. Their fresh bread is quite good as well. If you would like a better selection of loaves of bread or some cookies/bars, this is an excellent choice. If you're looking for a meal, look elsewhere.

WORST bread ever! i don't get this place. The coffee not strong. The cookies and bakeries items are weird, it falls apart into crumbs....you know the kind of cookie that has been sitting on your kitchen counter forever? Well that kind.

I've had gHood soup and bread here but the baked sweets always seem old and dry. The customer service is awful. I've never seen a smile or a hint of politeness come from the pinky-up kids who were working the two times I went. I say if it's a bakery, bake fresh and if employed there smile, it smells good.

Easily the best place to get a sandwich in North Dakota. They also make great soups (Wild Rice Porridge is my favorite) and bakery goods. Here's a sample of what kind of sandwiches you might find on their menu on a given day: *Pesto Pig -- Smoked Ham, Provolone, & Basil Pesto on Ciabatta Bun *Club -- Smoked Turkey, Sharp Cheddar, Bacon, Tomato, & Lettuce on Thick Cut Oatmeal Whole Wheat Bread *Avocado Club -- Turkey, Guacamole, Tomato, & Greens on thick cut Red River Sourdough Bread *Muffaletta -- A New Orleans Classic Capicola Ham, Smoked Ham, Genoa Salami & Provolone Cheese on Muffaletta Bread *Tuscan Turkey -- Smoked Turkey, Smoked Bacon, Provolone Cheese, Greens, and Basil Pesto on Thick Cut Cranberry Almond Levain *Waldorf -- Chicken, Apples, Celery, Walnuts, Mayo, Craisins, Raisins, & Lemon on Thick Cut Cinnamon Raisin Bread *North Third -- Genoa Salami, Ham, Swiss, & Olive Sun Dried Tomato Tapenade on Baguette *Mediterranean Tuna-- Tuna, Olive Oil, Kalamata Olives, Sun Dried Tomatoes, Garlic, Artichoke Hearts, Lemon, & Leaf Lettuce on Oatmeal Whole Wheat Bun *Chicken Peperonata -- Chicken with rosemary covered with a sauté of onion, peppers, olives, capers, and garlic on Red River Sourdough Bread Where else within 300 miles are you going to find this kind of creativity? Not to mention the fact the the bread is freshly baked and the ingredients (meats, cheeses, fixings) are all fresh and of the highest quality. You can have it hot pressed for another 50 cents. Someone said the sandwiches are pre-made and wrapped in the morning. I guess the downside to that is you can't really customize the sandwich much. But if you go to a five star restaurant in Los Angeles (see my review of Spago in Beverly Hills), you aren't going to say "hold the lettuce, and add the pickles" like you do at Subway. The basil pesto, sun dried tomatoes, kalamata olives, and such are added to certain sandwiches to put together a certain kind of balanced theme. Some of the sandwiches are more "blah" than others, but like someone else said, I've never had one I didn't like. The bakery also makes some good rolls, muffins, cakes, cookies, etc... The grain is locally grown, and the size of the bakery goods are a pleasant surprise. They also make a decent Sunday brunch. They have outdoor seating in the summer, and they bring a dog bowl out for you if you bring your dog. They also make doggie treats. In case you can't tell, I really like this place. And this is coming from someone who doesn't like Panera Bread, a similar restaurant found in bigger cities.

In GF to visit UND from Los Angeles. We had an awesome lunch. Fresh made sandwich and an incredible beer cheese soup. Make sure you try the cinnamon rolls.

I agree that they are a good baker, as I have gotten some of their bread. However that was after the lunch we had there, I found the lunch did not meet the expectation I had. The first thing I saw was a lot of premade sandwiches, guess I expected it to be made when order. In addition the soup was saltier then I like. A large crowd was coming and going for lunch here so I might be wrong, however other then picking up some bread I would not eat lunch here again.
